Conflict is all around us and this includes in our workplace. There are policies and procedures in place in most companies to deal with issues, however some of the issues that happen in work place need specialist interventions with a Conflict Resolution Specialist.

“Mediation is a process in which an independent, neutral Mediator assists two or more disputing parties in resolving the dispute in a collaborative, consensual manner.

“Mediation is the most significant development in dispute resolution in my lifetime.  The development of Mediation has been a dynamic break-through in how we resolve our differences. The practice of mediation will come to dominate the landscape of dispute resolution.  This will happen simply because Mediation is such an effective way of resolving disputes.  Like everyone here at the MII I passionately believe in Mediation’s potential to resolve even the most complex, intractable disputes. But it goes much further – in fostering resolution through negotiation rather than confrontation Mediation creates resolutions which last and promote well-being and happiness.” (Mediators Institute of Ireland President)

What is Workplace Mediation?

In workplace mediation, an independent, neutral Mediator facilitates and supports the people involved in the conflictual situation to reach an agreement through a co-operative route. The Mediator is non-judgmental, facilitative and encourages self-determining outcomes which will have long term outcomes as the people involved in the conflict reach the outcomes they desire. The Mediator is not a judge and will not judge the rights or wrongs of the parties, and the Mediator will not impose a decision. The Mediator supports the people involved in the conflict to recognise their core issues and needs and support the parties to study what needs tpo happen to have their needs met and voices heard.

Workplace as with all mediation is confidential (with exceptions- that will be addressed with individuals at the pre- mediation meetings) and as such, any decisions made between the people in conflict is confidential between them.

According to the MII (Mediators Institute of Ireland)
